I'll start by saying the lady up front was amazing, felt like I was being served by a friend the whole time The inside felt a bit retro with character on all the walls Now for the food , it was filling ! For the price and what I got I am satisfied, the toast was perfect , the bacon had a crunch and the French toast was good I would come here again for sure 4/5

Arrived at 8a with a group of eight! The waitress promptly put four tables together and took our drink orders! She came back with our drinks and handed out the breakfast menus! Limited, but all standard breakfast items, including those with chipped ham! After ordering our food 3 Pots of Coffee were brought to our table, which is a very nice feature! Our food was delivered fast and hot! Everything we ordered was correct and with plenty of jams, jellies, and napkins! The food was delicious, with particular attention to eggs over lightly and eggs over medium! Meats were done to perfection, and the home fries were exceptional! After a few more cups of coffee, and plenty of time to catch up on conversation, our waitress asked if we were ready for the check! After she brought our check, she politely removed the breakfast dishes from the table! She was very nice and personable and received a hefty tip for all of her service! We all enjoyed our breakfast experience and pledged to return in the future!

I need to be in Pittsburgh to visit Isaly ! I'll be there in September it's been 11 years since I visited PGH ! Not even sure where they're located ! We had one in Carnegie but I left that town in 1974.

It's been too long since I've been to this Pittsburgh staple. The chipped ham was a treat for my family. I think as kids it was just a cool place to be. And of course fresh milkshakes.

Isaly's was a chain of restaurants that opened in the early 1900s. They were famous for inventing the Klondike bar, which is now owned by Unilever, as well as chipped-chopped ham, which is thinly sliced or shaved. Today, I think that only a few locations of Isaly's restaurants remain. Fun fact: My husband's uncle is a historian who wrote a book about Isaly's. You can read about his book on Isaly's website and other websites. Anyway...today was my first-ever time inside an Isaly's. I chose to visit this location on Perry Highway because it had decent ratings. My husband and I parked our vehicle on the street. We entered the restaurant and saw a sign that told us to seat ourselves at any table. Soon, our waitress approached us and gave us menus. Please see my attached photos for the menus for breakfast and lunch. Our waitress made courteous conversation, and she was very timely with taking our order and with bringing out our drinks, foods, and bill. Here are my ratings for our foods: Omelette - 4 stars - My husband chose an omelette that contained cheese and bacon. He said that it tasted good, and he ate all of it. His sides were Italian bread, which was nicely toasted and buttered, and hash browns, which were crispy and seasoned. My husband also enjoyed a glass of orange juice. Everyday special - 4 stars - I chose two sunny-side-up eggs, chipped ham, home fries, and wheat toast. My eggs were cooked properly, my ham was shredded and tasted like ham, my home fries were fried well, and my toast was toasted and buttered. Cinnamon roll - 4 stars - This cinnamon roll was a good size, was served warm, and contained a proper amount of cinnamon and icing. At the end of our meal, we walked up to the counter, and we used a credit card to pay for our meal. We had noticed a lottery machine nearby, and we had asked the employee if we could purchase lottery tickets. She forgot, so we reminded her. We paid cash for the lottery tickets. She made pleasant conversation with us and thanked us.

Best place for breakfast. Very nostalgic and good greasy spoon kinda place. Gives you a feel for the west view community and fun atmosphere.

Anytime we're in the west view area we always have to stop at Isalys !! it's just a cozy, feeling of nostalgia just being in the restaurant. My dad grew up in West View, so I always like to share the memorabilia I saw with him. It's so fun to look around and the prices are very reasonable.

There are so many fantastic things on the menu here. Breakfasts are filling and have that old time diner flavor . Almost like stepping back in time. Favorite lunch item has to be "The Slammer" sandwich. Fried ham and onions with Swiss cheese on a roll. Not only are the rolls super fresh but they toast them on the grill which crisps up the edges and leaves a buttery taste! As for fries... gotta try them with gravy. Pair it with their open faced potroast. Could go on and on!

I'm a former "Isaly's was my neighbor kid" because we lived above my dad's store and Isaly's was directly across the street! I could not have had fonder memories! For Christmas one of my kids got me a book about Isaly's, so you know they've heard plenty about it! I'm so glad there's still one open in greater Pgh, and cannot wait till ice cream weather this year! I hope they still make skyscrapers!
